How I work
The therapeutic process impacts the way we relate to ourselves and others. Positive interactions reward and help us to regulate our nervous system. Humans are hardwired for connection. Connectedness and the care that it brings balances the pull of addictive and unhelpful behaviours. For those of us that are wounded, attachment to others may trigger a sense of vulnerability and discomfort, in turn preventing healthy connection. Through the therapeutic process we are able to not only heal these parts of ourselves but form healthy and safe relationships.
It is also the goal of this work to build resilience and allow clients to establish their agency.
My work as a integrative psychotherapist comes from a lifelong interest and curiosity in people and a desire to support others to find better emotional health and wellbeing. I feel passionate about the therapeutic process and how it can bring about healing and transformation.
My focus is to create a safe, supportive environment for self-discovery and to provide the understanding and resources my clients need to overcome their difficulties. I believe that people can heal and flourish best when they are heard with understanding, empathy, and compassion.
My approach is integrative and trauma informed. I draw on a variety of techniques from EMDR, Ego State and IFS, existential and strengths-based therapies, attachment theory, mindfulness practices, Poly Vagal Theory and somatic therapies. My work is collaborative and experiential, focussing on reconnecting body and mind and supporting you to live a fulfilling and enriched life.
